You're So RSV

Well our beautiful son who had been growing at a rapid rate decided that it was about time to give his parents their first scare. With the weather pattern we are experiencing right now, new people in our home handling baby Sean, and the joyous things flying around in the Oklahoma winter wind; our child got a cold. Imagine that. It started with a little cough, which our dear friend Megan Doke pointed out is usually not quite right for a 6 week old baby. As the Christmas weekend wore on, the cough got heavier, eating became more difficult, and spit-up bouts became more regular. So Mom finally convinced me that it was time to take the little guy into the Norman ER when his breathing became rapid and more inconsistent. It's at this point I diverge from the story....

I learned a whole lot about myself as a husband, father, and man of Jesus with this experience. I realize that I have a tendency to be overly laid back and stubborn in my ways. Out of the love of Stacie's sweet heart she was concerned for several days about the onset of this cold, I on the other hand was hard headed in thinking it would quickly go away. The covenant of our marriage and commitment to each thoughts, opinions, and worries escaped me. After realize what an idiot I was being, I had the opportunity to express to Stacie what a wonderful mother and wife she is. All she is doing in her worries and concerns is loving our child in a way that our Father God loves us. Our Pappa Jesus only wants the best for his kingdom children and although we get ill and we are broken he loves us regardless. I praise him for that and I praise him for the opportunity to become a little bit better as a man.

So Sunday morning we take baby Sean to the ER and he is diagnosed with an ear infection and RSV....read about RSV and as normal as it is for babies to get it will scare the piss out of you, so maybe you should read about it on the toilet. Stacie decided it would also be a good idea to go see our pediatrician today to follow up and see her opinion. Man is my wife a genuis!
Turns out the little dude doesnt have an ear infection, thanks ER doc..., but he sure does have RSV and we have to go back again tomorrow to monitor his oxygen levels. If we can continue to keep liquids in him and keep sucking the mucuus out of his nose we should see his oxygen level stay above 90, but if it is below 90 tomorrow morning than we have to check him into the Hospital so he can be monitored and receive oxygen.

Please pray that our Father, in whom all power and glory resides, will release his power of healing over baby Sean's body. Pray that his oxygen levels wouldnt just be above 90, but that it would be 100 when he is tested tomorrow. It is not cocky, arrogant, or silly to pray for perfected health for our father has the ability to provide us with just that. Seriously, please if you are reading this....even if its 5 weeks later, will you pray for a power of health over our son. Praise you for your trust in God with your prayers!!

Our first post!

So I've been wanting to start a blog for a while now...well, since about 5 months into my pregnancy w/ baby Sean mainly because we have a lot of family and friends who live outside of Norman. I thought it was going to be more difficult, but it was surprisingly very easy! I will do my best to keep it updated frequently especially since baby Sean is now here and changing every day! We love him so much and are so very thankful God blessed us with his little life! He teaches me things daily, and I have definitely been enlightened by God into another part of His extravagant love for us. Stay tuned for more on baby Sean's somewhat tumultuous and unexpected arrival...and the many pictures we have of our sweet, sweet son.
