Halloween 2010

We did a couple of things for Halloween this year. Our first trick or treat we went to the zoo with some friends. SE's costume, Mickey Mouse, wasn't quite ready yet so he wore his dragon costume from last year. When we got to the zoo, we really couldn't believe it...the line was incredibly long and we were wondering what we had gotten ourselves into, but we persevered and had a really fun time!

Last night we went did Norman trick or treat and had so much fun. SE, who usually runs everywhere, was taking it all in and ended up being the last one to finish. Mickey Mouse costume was ready; I ended up buying the pieces of clothing needed for it including white little mittens and yellow socks to put over his shoes. I made his mouse ears and tail...seriously the closest thing he'll probably ever have to a homemade costume, and of course, we had some malfunctions. His tail fell off before we even started (thankfully a friend had a safety pin so we repaired it that way). Then somehow his ears fell off (I think some little hands were messing with them), but again, we managed to salvage them. I think he was the cutest Mickey Mouse ever!

Birthday buddies SE & Sophie!

Making one last run for some treats! Oh I did forget to mention that SE consumed and/or lost 4 suckers throughout the evening. That kid loves him a sucker!

Baby girl's bedding

Ever since we found out baby Dos is a girl, I've been bedding searching. I had it narrowed down to 2, but I didn't really love either one of them (they were either a little too pink or too themey). So after hours of scouring the internet, I remembered a DwellStudio pattern I loved...the Charlotte crib bedding. Well apparently the Charlotte bedding has been discontinued for over a year (per the Dwell customer service...I contacted them several times). However, I managed to find 2 websites saying they had it in stock. So I ordered it from one website and got an email from them the next day that they didn't have it. I was crushed...literally crying because I was so upset. Sean basically laughed at me and said "Stacie, it's bedding. You'll find another one you like". But \THIS was the bedding she had to have. I went to bed that night praying for God to somehow find the bedding for me. The next morning I woke up, went to the computer, ran the search yet again for Charlotte DwellStudio baby bedding. One of the 2 websites that I had seen before came up along with a new website. I wrote down their numbers to call...called the first one and the phone was disconnected. WHAT?! Hope was fading (okay that might be a little dramatic). Called the next one...a store out in Washington...it was 9:00 a.m. in the morning in OK so 7:00 a.m. in the morning in Washington. No one answered (of course). I counted down the minutes to 12:00 p.m. so I could call. Noon came and I put on a Mickey Mouse to entertain SE so I could talk peacefully...a sweet guy named Ben answered, and I asked the question...do you have the DwellStudio Charlotte crib bedding in your store on the shelf...he looked at his computer and said it showed they have 3. He went to the shelf to make sure...I could hear the package crinkle in his hand when he found it! I was beyond elated...gave him my credit card number and 6 short days later got her bedding in the mail. I am even more in love with it in person than I am on the internet. And SO excited God made it happen. Later on in the week after I had received the bedding, I was at mom's prayer and the question of how much God loves us was posed and that is what He brought to my mind...that He loves us so much even in the areas we perceive as small and insignificant (baby bedding)...they aren't at all small and insignificant to HIM! Here are some pics of what baby girl's bedding looks like!

Welcome Alice Elizabeth Doke!

Our dear friends, Chris and Megan Doke, welcomed their 3rd daughter last Tuesday, 10/5/10. She joins big sisters Emma and Sophie. We got to the hospital just after she was born and got to celebrate with them. Congratulations Dokes...we pray God's sweet blessings on your family!

Worship Music Time

For the past couple of weeks, SE and I have been having worship music time! I put on worship music, SE colors, and I do a little quiet time. The first several times, SE colored normally sitting in the chair, colors and paper on the table. Then he decided to go a little out of the box as you can see below. He has made some awesome pictures though!

Sean and his mini-me

I took this picture because at the particular moment, SE and Sean looked identical!

Ice Cream Cone

Every Monday night we enjoy meeting some of our favorites at Qdoba for $1 taco night. We then enjoy going to Braum's for an ice cream cone...a tradition began by our favorite Jill. Usually SE would just get bites from whoever would let him have them...we recently started getting him his own cone. He loves them...so now there are two sweets on SE's like list: suckers and ice cream cones!

SE Update

The days have been flying by recently. OU football started so weeks with home games find Sean working late and then working on Saturdays also. SE and I have been trying to stay busy, busy to pass the time without dada. So here's a few things SE has been up to:

Favorite foods: oatmeal, bananas, purple grapes, blueberries, strawberries, peaches (do we see a theme with fruit), Mickey snacks, tomatoes, carrots, and recently spinach. SIDENOTE: he will dip anything...his favorite dips include ranch and bar-b-q.

Favorite things to do: outside, going on walks, playing at parks, looking for the "baseball moon", watching Mickey Mouse, reading Charlie Bird (given to him by his favorite aunt Te-a) and the Eric Carle series Baby Bear, Polar Bear, Panda Bear and Brown Bear (he knows ALL of the animals along with their colors), play with any type of ball and he knows pretty much all of them...football, basketball, golf, tennis, soccer, etc.

Notable names he would like to name his baby sister: basketball, orange ball, bubbles. Quick funny story, I was wearing a yellow shirt the other day and SE pointed to my stomach and said "yellow baby sister". I laughed pretty hard at that one!

Favorite people: Nana, Papa, aunt Te-a, Colin, Stephen Pyle, Jill, Roberp (Robert), Lolo (Logan), Emma & Sophie Doke, Kerri & Gracie, Uncle G & Aunt Emma

Here are some pics...all from my phone, thus the weird angles:

First OU football game

Second OU football game (also the anniversary of Sean's mom's passing). We went to Sam's to pick out some flowers. SE picked these out all by himself and would not let them go. He held them like this in the car all the way home.

This is just the typical little boy he is...I looked back today in the car while we were at a stoplight and saw this and was thankful he kept his fingers up his nose long enough for me to take a pic!

Sean Edward Boyd, we love you so very much and are so very blessed to call you son. There isn't a day that goes by that I don't thank our Lord for you or that your dada's and my love grows for you. You are smart, funny and loving. There is already a wit about you that greatly resembles that of your dad's so much so I already have my hands full with it, and it makes disciplining you difficult at times. We love that you "jump for joy" and that you answer "Jesus" when we ask where our joys comes from. We continuously pray the love of the Father over you, that you will continue to grow knowing His identity for you and that you will learn to walk in His full power and authority. You are an absolute delight, SE!

First bike!

SE is obsessed with, among other things, bicycles. Sean is a biker so we have several in our garage that SE sees. Whenever we see them while driving, SE will point them out with "bicycle" and then "more bicycle" if he sees another one. So I looked at what was available for SE to get as his bicycle, settled on a Fisher-Price "grow with me", and we headed to Target to get it. SE was super excited when I told him what we were going to do...he kept saying bicycle, first bicycle. We got it, Sean put it together, and SE rode it pretty much the rest of the day. His feet don't quite reach the peddles yet, but I figure with the way SE grows, he will be able to reach them in a couple of weeks!

Really that smile says it all! He was also super excited to tell his papa and aunt Te-a about his first bicycle!

Big transition!

With the upcoming arrival of our new little one, I wanted to give SE a head start with sleeping somewhere other than his crib...enter his big boy bed and the other changes to his room. We didn't really change the walls or anything, just took out his crib, the changing table and a bookcase and set up his big boy bed and a chest that has been in my family forever, and I decided to repaint and antique it a little. Here are the befores and afters!

SE's room before

SE's room after

Here is the chest's transition...it began white...
Then went to brown...
Then to red...
And finally the finished product!

I'm happy to report that really only after two long nights, SE is happily putting himself to bed now. Sean and I still accompany him of course, but he's actually excited to run into his room and jump in his bed and doesn't cry when Sean or I leave. Naps have been hit or miss, but I'm sure we'll get those down soon too. Oh and if anyone needs red, gold or brown paint, please let me know...I have a ton left over!

Baby Dos is a GIRL!

So I thought it would be fun to do a baby Dos gender reveal. With SE we just called/texted family and friends so we decided to change it up this time around. My friend Meg had told me about reading where someone had done strawberry cake for a girl and chocolate cake for a boy. We decided to do strawberry for a girl, vanilla for a boy and chocolate frosting regardless. The cake was delicious, and upon cutting it, we saw it was strawberry! SE will be a big brother to a sweet little girl due to arrive in December. We can't wait to meet her. Many people have been asking about names...here are some of the ones we are considering: Ada, Elise, Finley, Hannah, and Teagan. Her middle name will be Cohrs after Sean's sweet mom.

OU Football anyone...

I think I know someone who might be ready...and he keeps saying it over and over again. It may have something to do with Sean and I, but SE probably would have picked it up on his own somehow, right?

Momma, I pooped!

I've heard the numerous stories from friends who have little boys about waking up from naps to find their little ones playing in their poop. Most times poop around the mouth, usually in it, has also been involved. So I wasn't too caught off guard the other day when I woke up to SE saying "poop, poop" over the monitor. I went into his room and immediately smelled what he was informing me had happened. Then I turned on the light...yep, he was accurate in his statements that he had pooped and indeed it was covering him. The thought of "where do I start" flashed through my mind, and I, of course, did what any good mom does right...I got my camera and took pictures. Thankfully, there were only two spots of it on his face...one on his nose and then forehead, none around his mouth. I might not have made it through the cleaning process had it been around his mouth. And also thankfully Sean came home while I had started the bath and was in the midst of cleaning off SE. Oh little boys...what would we do without them?!
